History

The Sixteen Island Lake Conservation Association was started in 1989.

It was inspired by the realisation that the "Lake Experience" is a fragile thing and is threatened by uncontrolled growth, pollution, big boats, Zebra Mussels and many other things that are products of the changing times.

Since then we have learned that the most important way to conserve and enhance the environment is through strong laws that are respected and upheld by the responsible levels of government. Without laws citizens have no control over what happens in their community.
