What will we do with Afghanistan when we get it?

• Ask the UN to administer Afghanistan - This requires the population's co-operation, it will not be there in Afghanistan. The UN left the Khmer Rouge in tact in Cambodia and cannot even secure the border of East Timor, a very small place.

• Keep a military pacification force in place - who, how long?

• Hand the country over to one or more of the old factions, now known as the Northern Alliance - They have already demonstrated their inability to govern or co-operate together and are guilty of committing terrible human rights violations. They are scarcely more liberal than the Taliban in their view of women.

• Ask one or more surrounding countries to administer it - The surrounding countries don't like Afghanistan or each other. They already have too many internal problems to consider or be capable of such a mission.
