Most of
these photos were taken during an humanitarian exploratory mission from Herat in Western
Afghanistan to Ghormach in Badghis province. This was shortly after the Taliban had driven
Northern Alliance troops from the area. It was heavily mined and littered with Unexploded
Ordinance (UXO), refugees were returning and winter was approaching.
