Afghanistan Photo Gallery

Most of these photos were taken during an humanitarian exploratory mission from Herat in Western Afghanistan to Ghormach in Badghis province. This was shortly after the Taliban had driven Northern Alliance troops from the area. It was heavily mined and littered with Unexploded Ordinance (UXO), refugees were returning and winter was approaching.

Mines and Unexploded Ordinance (UXO)

Mines and UXO were killing people on a daily basis. Most mines were from Iran and were laid by the Northern Alliance.
